 The Business Software Application landscape is changing, and fast. There has been a shift from the costly in-house owned and managed systems to the agile ‘pay-per use' utility type model. This new style of IT consumption is known as ‘Cloud Computing', and is fast becoming part of how businesses utilise technology. The main driver behind this change has been the economic climate; organisations want more for less, they want to deploy business software applications without large up-front capital expenditure, complex software implementations and high impact on internal IT resources. By running your applications in the Cloud you are able to have the large data centre with state of the art hardware, limitless capacity and the highest level of security available without actually having to own it all; you simply rent it, and pay only for what you use. This is known as ‘Software as a Service' or SaaS. As your business grows your subscription grows at the same rate, meaning an end to those capacity planning exercises and five year growth projections to procure your own hardware.

Oracle is a leading provider of Cloud based services, recently launching Fusion Applications as its next generation enterprise applications. Developed from the ground-up and utilising the knowledge and experience gained from their acquisitions of best-in-class ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, JD Edwards and Siebel, these business software applications are offered in both Cloud based and On-premise deployment models. The Fusion HCM family is perfectly suited to being deployed in the Cloud because it requires less integration to complex on-premise systems and can be a low risk first flight into the Cloud. A further advantage of subscribing to Fusion HCM is you can chose to deploy the whole suite, or just one module as a business-solution based add-on, such as Talent Management.

As an Oracle Diamond Partner, Hitachi Consulting has made significant investment in building a set of Cloud service offerings based on Oracle Fusion Applications. For the HCM suite, our ‘InFusion' offerings combine Hitachi Consulting's expertise from over 100 Oracle HRMS implementations with our deep understanding and experience of Fusion technology. Hitachi Consulting is an Oracle co-development Partner so we have first-hand experience of how Fusion Applications were built and the new foundational design concepts it brings.
